Nightlife in and around Westchester

There hasn't been much to do around here as far as nightlife goes for a few years. There used to be, but for now the best things around are a few clubs in Manhattan, New Jersey and Long Island.

Here are a few good places to start. These are a few people who tend to be on top of things and keep their sites current. If they have something listed on their events page it's probably worth checking out. Their links are probably good things to keep tabs on, too!

Ian FFord
A local DJ with a good following who usually plays at clubs in Manhattan, NJ and Long Island. Nice mix of Darkwave, EBM, etc.

Tim Cody
Cody plays '80's alternative and some new stuff. There's usually a good loyal crowd and a packed house where he's spinning.

Detour
Detour is usually on the harder side of Goth/Industrial, but it really depends on the DJ.

NYC Goth
Good resources and a nice chatroom!

Yes, there are places to go in Manhattan, but you have to leave for the 1:30 train, stay out all night, or drive. There's also a real lack of dance clubs if you're not strictly into goth, and a lot of the other places are the more small neighborhood type places that are great if you live a few blocks away, but can really end your night if you've gotten all ready to go out, driven a half hour and found there's nothing going on. Brooklyn is pretty much the same, but without the goth club. The Westchester Alternative and westchesteralternative.com are really centered on the immediate NYC metro area, but if you're in the northern part of Westchester or Fairfield counties you might want to check out New Haven, or Poughkeepsie. There's supposed to be a place north of Poughkeepsie called Noah's Ark, but nobody here's checked it out yet.

New Jersey has a few good places, but everything closes at one or two a.m. They're close, though. If you have to get home early they're not bad at all!

Long Island tends to be the best place to go out if you're from, or live in Westchester. You're going to have to drive a half hour anywhere you go, but at least on Long Island you don't have to go home before 4 a.m. It's also more like the same place you're coming from, but with two borroughs and a toll in between.
